DISCIPLINE is what you do FOR your Child so they will be PREPARED for life when you're NO LONGER IN THE ROOM! PUNISHMENT is what you do TO your Child to SATISFY your FRUSTRATION! (THERE’S A BIG DIFFERENCE!)
First Role of Parenting... GROUNDSKEEPER (Proverbs 29:15)
-DEFINE what your Child CAN/CANNOT do! (And...)
-Don't mistake PRECEDENCE (Biblical) with PREFERENCE (Personal)
Second Role of Parenting... REFEREE (Proverbs 13:24)
-ENFORCE the RULES/BOUNDARIES!
-If they’ve 'Broken A Rule' - THROW THE FLAG and ENFORCE THE PENALTY!
Never Forget... You can't be your Child's Friend because you weren't CALLED TO BE! You're their PARENT! If you're kids don't HATE you at least once in their life... you're not doing your job!
Never Forget... BIG PENALITES need to be reserved for ATTITUDE not for ACTIONS! The most important PENALITIES to call are PENALITES of the HEART!
Third Role of Parenting... COACH (Proverbs 22:6)
-Consistent/Continual TEACHING/TRAINING your Child the RULES/BOUNDARIES!
-Effective COACHING that follows DISCIPLINE doesn't DWELL ON THE MOMENT... it USES THE MOMENT as a TEACHING OPPORTUNITY!
